Nêvozh is a fictional fantasy world with a lot of Slavic and some Nordic influences. It currently takes place in a time hundreds of years after a cataclysmic event called the Rupture where Magic killed and destroyed most of humanity. The humanity had to rebuild from the ruins of their world and Magic was banned and then eventually restricted and controlled.
Magic is a large part of Nêvozh and exists everywhere in the world in various amounts. Anyone can use Magic but it’s difficult to master and extremely volatile, so its use is heavily restricted and governed by The Institute. Magic in large amounts or extended exposure to Magic affects and mutates living beings, usually extending lifespans but sometimes it can affect the mind and the bodies.
The Institute is a worldwide organization that governs, controls, and teaches Magic. Every user of Magic is brought into the Institute and stays there for the rest of their lives as Wizards serving the organization and learning Magic, whether they want to or not.
The people of Nêvozh are diverse and have various professions and ranks within society. The People not associated with The Institute are usually called the Commoners. The highest rank among the Commoners is the High Chief, who governs the city or town of an area.
Major inspirations for the look and feel of this world that could be of note are the artists Vyacheslav Nazaruk, Ivan Bilibin, Andrey Shishkin and Vsevolod Ivanov. Otherwise, I draw inspiration from folklore, mainly of Slavic origin but Nordic and others as well.
